3 Easy Steps to Staining Your Deck

deck-cleaning

  1. First spend a few hours on your deck this spring. This will allow you time to have multiple discussions with your spouse or significant other about how you need to get your deck stained. The process is pretty simple. When the weather is right – simply go sit and ‘relax’ on your deck. This is a great conversation starter. Usually within just a few minutes the topic will turn to how bad your deck looks.

A sample conversation:

“Did you have a good day sweetheart?’

“Our deck looks terrible, when can we do something about it?”

After the 3rd or 4th of these ‘relaxing’ evenings you will be motivated to get to work. However, you can replace this step by simply calling Painter Ready at 423-648-4408 or visiting them at www.painterreadychatt.com. They can actually help prevent these conversations by getting it done fast and within budget.

  1. You will need to spend some time at the local big box construction and supply store. This will be a great way to spend most of a few Saturdays. You will not intend to spend that much time there, but once you have conquered the traffic and the parking…and get into the store you will need to get some light bulbs, a new door for the bathroom, dog food, some fertilizer and then there is that 2-page ‘to do now’ list that you and your better-half have been putting together.  So a ‘quick’ run to the store to get some supplies and pick out the stain you want; will easily pull you through late afternoon, but don’t worry , if you don’t get it all done in one trip…you can always go back tomorrow. However, you can replace this step by simply calling Painter Ready at 423-648-4408 or visiting them at www.painterreadychatt.com. They can bring your selections to you and they already have all the supplies they will need to do a fantastic job on y our deck.

  2. Clean the deck, prep the deck, stain the deck, maybe apply another coat, clean your brushes and pick up the mess undoubtedly left behind! This step is usually the most time intensive. First you will need to get all the furniture off the deck…please do not start applying stain around furniture…this will cause a ring of discolor that will be hard to explain to house guests. You will probably need to rent a pressure washer to make sure all the loose debris is removed and the deck is ready to accept the stain. This should not be too expensive or take more than an hour or so to pick up (if you have a truck) or you can ask a friend to borrow theirs…borrow things from friends is always fun and teaches us about sharing. However, you can replace this step by simply calling Painter Ready at 423-648-4408 or visiting them at www.painterreadychatt.com. They have the pressure washer and the expertise to do the job quickly and make sure it looks great and lasts.
